Bengals Bengal cats are a universally recognized breed (TICA and The Cat Fanciers Association). They are propogated by pairing Asian Leopard breeds with select Domestic cats. The breed features a leopard-like coat (spots and stripes) and they retain many of their wild habits, such as climbing trees and a healthy, playful hunting instinct. Bengal males can reach an impressive weight of 15 pounds, with the females usually weighing in slightly smaller at 8-10 pounds. They are quite muscular and not fragile in the least. The back legs are longer than the front, and they have large rounded feet. High cheekbones with prominent whiskers give these cats an exotic look, as well as a small, broad head which is characteristic of the breed. The coat of the bengal is usually short and soft (and easy to tolerate to those with cat allergies). It may come in a variety of shades and patterns, some carry a dark background color with spots and stripes, or they may have a 'snowy' color of pale white. A glittery shine is also apparent on prime Bengal Specimens. |
